Today we are going to know about services provided by  CSC. People who do not know about  CSC , Those people should try to understand that it’s a type of company working in the whole of India, which works to deliver Digital Services to every corner of the country.

The main objective of CSC is to open a CSC center in every gram panchayat in all rural areas of the country where all types of government and non-government services can be provided to the people of that rural area through CSC Digital.

The Common Service Scheme has been Launched as part of the “good governance” paradigm. It is  an online-based program which is developed by the Ministry of Communications, Department of Electronics And and IT, Government of India.

We had already discussed how to open a CSC center and how to become a VLE (Village Level Entrepreneurs) . 

Now we will discuss services provided by CSC centers.

 What Are The Services Provided by CSC?

CSC offers a number of utility payments, health check services for the betterment of the citizens. It aims to make life simple and hassle-free.

  1. Government to Citizen (G2C)
  • Insurance Services – Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) has granted  License to CSC e-Governance Services India Limited   to work as an Authorized Intermediary to market specifically approved insurance products through the Rural Authorised Persons (Village Level Entrepreneurs). 

 Any VLEs can now become a Rural Authorized Person (RAP) to make himself able to sell Insurance products through APNA CSC Portal. To become a RAP VLE has to complete the RAP training and pass the RAP exam.

  • Passport – The Ministry has made it mandatory under the Passport Seva  to complete the entire form filing process on-line, including payment of applicable fee and scheduling of appointment for seeking Passport related services. Passport service in csc has been made live on Digital Service Portal. Now you can apply to any customer or your own passport through csc.
  • E-Nagrik & E- District Services {Birth/ Death Certificate etc.}- Recently CSC SPV has  introduced the CRS Birth and Death Certificate through Apna CSC portal. Now all VLEs can file applications related to birth, death and adoption through their CSC portal.

The application has to be filed through CSCs within 21 days of the event. CSCs can charge Rs.15 from citizens for form filing.

  • Pension Services – Anyone who wants to enroll for pension has to visit the LIC office to get the form/information and to apply for the scheme at the CSC center. Here VLE will enroll the eligible citizen for the PM-SYM scheme through the digital seva website.
  • NIOS Registration –  CSC SPV and  the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)  joined hands  to make CSCs as NIOS Facilitation Centers. CSCs can promote Open Schooling in Rural areas of  India, Register Students, Pay Registration fee  and Examination Fee, Know the Status of Admission, and Declare Results.
  • Apollo Telemedicine – Apollo Group had tied  up with Common Service Centres to expand telemedicine services in India. The main  aim of this collaboration is to provide primary healthcare through tele consultation to patients in rural  areas from telemedicine speciality centres situated within Apollo hospitals across various locations in the country and will run virtual clinics for patients using telemedicine technology. 
  • NIELIT Services – National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology   is an autonomous scientific society that provides higher and professional education through the non-formal sector. Any  CSCs can provide a Facilitation Center for courses offered by NIELIT.
  • Aadhar Printing and Enrollment – With this new feature of CSC, VLE will be able to download the Aadhaar card of any customer through their fingerprint, also vle can enroll for a new adhaar card if they have all required devices .
  • PAN Card – When you become a VLE of CSC and your CSC registration application is approved, now you can also give the facility of UTI PAN card to citizens from your CSC center.
  • Electoral Services –  CSC are  offering electoral registration and other services under the Election Commission, People would be able to update their details on the election card and get a copy of the same through CSCs,  
  • E-Courts and Results Services –  Department of Justice has collaborated with CSC E-Governance Services India Limited In order to provide efficient and time-bound access to the Courts services to litigant public, who are on the other side of the digital divide and do not have access to internet, This is very beneficial for  delivery of e-Courts services to citizen through the CSC network.
  • State Electricity and Water Bill Collection Services – In order to make easy way of payment in rural areas Reserve Bank of India has granted Bharat Bill Payment Operating Unit (BBPOU) licence to CSC e-Governance Services India. Now people of rural  India  can pay their utility bills like electricity bill, water bill and telephone at CSC through debit or credit cards as well in cash.
  • IHHL Project of MoUD (Swachh Bharat) – Individual Household Latrine it is a scheme  of Swacch Bharat Abhiyan To reach the benefit of this scheme to the people, Common Service Center of the Ministry of Government of India had given the  responsibility  to Common Service Center for  online registration of the beneficiaries of this scheme . Where eligible persons can avail this scheme by uploading their personal details online.
  1. Business  to Citizen (B2C)

The following services are covered under B2C, these are very common services which  a citizen of rural India can avail.

  • Online Cricket Course
  • IRCTC, Air and Bus Ticket Services
  • Mobile and DTH Recharge
  • English Speaking Course
  • E-Commerce Sales (Book, Electronics, Households Items, etc.)
  • Agriculture Services
  • CSC Bazaar
  • E-Learning
  1. Education Services

The following services are covered under education services.

  • Adult Literacy –  Under this service, reading, writing, speaking, and listening services will be offered through organization TARA Akshar+ .
  • IGNOU Services – Under this service CSC helps in various activities in  Indira Gandhi National Open University  like Students Admission, information about courses being offered, Examination Application Form, Results declaration, etc. 
  • Digital Literacy  –  Under this service,  many computer courses that will increase the IT skills of ASHA and Anganwadi Workers and authorized Ration Card Holder will be encouraged. There are also Investor Awareness Programmes, and NABARD Financial Literacy Programme as well.
  • NIELIT Services – Under this service CSC will help in  Online Registration/ Fee Collection, Online Examination Form submission and printing of examination.
  • NIOS Services – Under this service Open Schooling in Rural Areas, Registration of Students, Payment of Examination Fees, and Declaration of Results will be encouraged through the NIOS service.
  1. Financial Inclusion

 The following services are covered under this.

  • Banking – Under this service a number of  banking services like Deposit,  Enquiry, Statement of Accounts, Withdrawal, Balance, Recurring Deposit Accounts, Overdraft, Retail Loan, General Purpose Credit Card, Kisan Credit Card, made available through CSC in the rural areas. CSC has tied up with nearly 42 public, private services sector banks  and regional rural banks.
  • Insurance – Under this service CSC will also offer insurance services through the Authorized Village Level Entrepreneur (VLE). Also, there are Some special features that include Life Insurance, Health Insurance, Crop Insurance, Personal Accident, and Motor Insurance.
  • Pension –  Under this service National Pension System in Rural and Semi-Urban Areas are promoted through the opening of Tier 1 and Tier 2 Accounts, Deposit Contribution, etc.
  1. Other Services

 The following services are covered under this.

  • Agriculture-  After the  registration  of  farmers is  done, they will receive expert advice on various things like  Weather Information, Soil Information.
  • Recruitment- CSC will share   Notification with the citizens for Recruitment in Indian Navy, Indian Army, and Indian Air Force ,  in order to give them an opportunity to join the armed forces.
  • Income Tax Filing- VLE Manual is available in both language English and Hindi. It will help in Income Tax Returns that are filed through CSC.
  1. DigiPay 

digiPay is  part of a  CSC’s Banking, through it, anyone who has an account with any bank can know the Amount deposited in their account through AEPS by applying their Thumb and can avail the services of Balance Inquiry or Cash Withdrawal and Money Transfer. 

With the help of DIGIPAY, a person’s Aadhaar number is based on his Biometric / IRIS information authenticity, which reduces the risk of any fraud or non-genuine activity. Aadhaar provides an authentication facility to the citizen / customer anytime, anywhere, any way. The service is currently operating on Windows and Android based laptops / desktops / mobile phones.

Now the Village Level Entrepreneur (VLEs) of all the whose CSC ID has arrived, it has been made mandatory to pay with DIGIPAY, 

Since now all banking facilities have been inbuilt in DIGIPAY. For example, just like we can deposit or withdraw money from any bank and do the balance inquiry, now through the CSC portal of Jan Seva Kendra through DIGIPAY, all the facilities of the bank will be available in the village itself and the village elders People will not have to go round the bank, nor will people have to stand in long queues to deposit and withdraw money.

Now all the banking related work will be done from the CSC center near you.

  1. NHRC

It  is Important for Promotion and Protection of Human Rights. NHRC and CSC SPV have collaborated  to facilitate grievances related to Human Right violation. The service was launched during the month of December, 2018. CSC SPV has made a provision for complaint registration through Digital Seva Portal, where the VLEs can file grievances related to Human Rights violations on behalf of a citizen.
